Our Love is Digital

by | Jun 4, 2022

Bored as fuck
I’m done and I’m through
I’m out with my friends
But I’m thinking of you

You left me on read
I’m checking my phone
But you don’t reply
So I sit here alone

You’re seeing my stories
And liking my posts
Don’t answer my calls
You’re just like a ghost

Would we have met
If I didn’t swipe right
Would I be thinking of you,
in the middle of the night?

Look at us now,
Our love is digital
We bypassed a system
A system that’s pivotal

Swipe left and swipe right
Just faces to me
Like a motor-less boat
Sinking at sea

I’m reading our texts
They’re stuck in my head
Trying to read through
The things that you said

I’m drunk and I text
I just want you here
You reply with a wink
But then disappear

You haven’t unmatched me
I feel stuck in time
It’s as if we’re together
But just in my mind

You wanted for real
But casual too
So fucking confusing
I don’t have a clue

Sometimes I wonder
Were we meant to be
I mean, we met on an app
As if love is free

I made you laugh
“Let’s grab a drink?”
Night turned to day
Before I could blink

Out of your comfort
You want to be
Sooo out of your comfort
But just normal to me

Had the time of our lives
We kissed and you fled
But you opened your door
So I woke in your bed

A smile, a kiss
That morning I knew
It was probably the last
That I’d see of you

I took a shower
You stuffed a note in my jeans
I read it ten times
I don’t know what it means

We don’t talk anymore
But I follow you
You follow me
We’re a digital 2

A romance that lives
Just through my screen
Inside a digital fortress
Just like a queen

So I swipe left, and swipe right
Hoping to find
The next pretty girl
To take me out of my mind
